School of Engineering
The mission of the School of Engineering is to educate global engineers who “have two feet on the ground and two hands on the problem”.
The full-time faculty are active educators and engineers; they are assisted by a number of tutors who are practicing engineers. With the use of its unique integration of experiential and theoretical education, Chindwin College engineering students are educated using a “learn-by-doing” project-based model linking theory with hands-on practice.
Our programmes prepare students for tomorrow's challenges in two distinctive ways. First, our curriculum is team-based and interdisciplinary, just like today's workplace. Second, we emphasize the application of knowledge and not the pursuit of engineering for the sake of engineering. We engage students in problem solving and encourage them to think "out of the box". In other words, we prepare them for the real world and to be a global engineer.
Welcome to the School of Engineering at Chindwin College.
The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering prepares students who wish to pursue a career at technician level within the electronics industry. In addition to being a valuable qualification in its own right for entry into the industry, an HND can also provide a springboard for entry to BEng Degree level studies and lifelong learning in new and developing specialties. An HND is often a pathway to a degree and many students progress to the final year of a degree course.
The programmes include:- International Foundation Certificate (Electrical/Electronics Engineering)
- Higher National Diploma (Electrical/Electronics Engineering)
International Foundation Certificate (Electrical/Electronics Engineering)
The International Foundation Certificate (IFC) will allow you to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to move on, with confidence, to the first year of the Higher National Diploma (HND) programme in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
Delivered in a modular way, the IFC is ideal for students who aspire to pursue further studies in engineering leading to a bachelor’s degree via the HND. Applicants must have completed the national matriculation examination with a good pass in English and Mathematics or are currently undergoing studies at the AGTI.
The course duration is 16 months and is focused on building a firm foundation in Electrical and Electronics knowledge and English language proficiency.
Higher National Diploma (Electrical/Electronics Engineering)
The Higher National Diploma (HND) programme in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology is a well established UK national qualification from Edexcel Foundation that places academic theory within a practical context. The course is suitable for those who intend to pursue a career in the engineering industry.
On successful completion of the HND, students can progress onto the final year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical/Electronic) degree course at the University of Sunderland (UK Campus or Singapore Campus with Tyndale Education Group).
All 16 modules are assessed by projects and written assignments. There are no formal examinations but some modules contain in-class tests. Students are also taught employability and life skills to ease their transition from classroom to the workplace.
Course Duration
Two academic years of 4 semesters of classroom Laboratory and Workshop activities.
Entry Requirements
- Undergraduates in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics and Engineering, OR
- National Diploma or a City & Guilds Diploma in appropriate engineering discipline, OR
- Any other basic training and academic qualification which the College may consider acceptable.
